Petit Bateau started as a hosiery factory in Troyes France. The company specialized in underwear for men, women and children and at that time, children's underwear, like adults was mid thigh in length. In 1918, with two snips of the scissors, Petit Bateau invented children's underwear without legs. In 1994 the designers extended the children's basic white t-shirt to include women. Petit Bateau basics have now become a fashion phenomenon with over 4 million t-shirts sold worldwide each year.
